This glossary is provided for use with the Forming Disciples for the New Evangelization Curriculum Guide. The terms included in the glossary are the underlined terms throughout the curriculum from Pre-K to Grade 8. Each term is listed along with the indicator reference from which it is drawn.

Because the indicators drive our instruction and guide our focus, the terms are defined in the context of the specific indicator with particular attention given to grade level appropriateness within the indicator. As such, a definition may seem to have a very limited scope; however, it does align with the intent of the indicator. In some instances, the indicator itself provides the definition of the term.

Following the required/supplemental rubric of the indicators, bold terms are essential terms, italicized terms are supplemental. Terms underlined within an italicized indicator are defined in the glossary for your reference. However, they are not required terms and thus will not be used in conjunction with the assessment unless they are underlined elsewhere in the curriculum within a required indicator.

The glossary is available in alphabetical format encompassing the entire scope of the curriculum from Pre-K to 8. This allows the catechist to see the trajectory of a term as it moves through the spiral scope and sequence of the curriculum.

The glossary is also available in grade-level format. If a word occurs more than one time in a grade level, it is defined within each indicator where it is underlined. As such, some words will appear more than once in a grade-level glossary with differing definitions.
