Catholic Family

Family

Families are the foundation of the Church and our society. It is the family that is the first school of love and the Christian way of life. Family life ministry offers resources to parishes and families throughout the archdiocese to enrich and strengthen married and family life.

Marriage

Marriage

Marriage is a sacred union and a natural institution that unites a woman and man in faithful and mutual love. Marriage invites the couple to imitate, for each other, Christ's self-giving love. A married couple's faith and fruitful love is a sign of God's love in the world.

Natural Family Planning

Family Planning

Natural Family Planning celebrates the gift of human sexuality and strengthens the bond between husband and wife. It can help couples achieve responsible parenthood while strengthening the couples intimacy at all stages of married life. Studies show that couples who practice Natural Family Planning express a greater satisfaction with married life.

Hispanic Family Life

Hispanic Family

The Hispanic Catholic population in the archdiocese is vibrant and growing every year. Hispanic families are at the heart of many of our parishes and the archdiocese supports them through coordinating marriage preparation and providing programs that enrich marriage and family life in addition to celebrating Catholic identity.

Our Cultures

Cultures

The Archdiocese of Washington is blessed to reflect the diversity of the universal Church. Mass is celebrated in more than 25 languages. Our Catholic schools are comprised of students from all over the world and parishes serve the unique needs of our multicultural Catholic population.
