Our Schools

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington cultivate students’ minds, open their hearts and nurture their spiritual development. From pre-kindergarten through high school, our schools are centers of academic excellence and are alive with Gospel values. We offer:

Excellence in education
Our nationally accredited Catholic schools offer a well-rounded, rigorous curriculum for all grade levels. Our certified faculty delivers award-winning educational experiences and proactively addresses individual learning needs. Values integration, technology for the classrooms, a full range of extra-curricular activities, and top-notch sports programs create a rich learning environment to meet each student’s interests and capabilities.

Spiritual and moral formation for a contemporary world
Young people today live in a world that is complex, fast-paced and full of contradiction. A Catholic education prepares students to live full, faithful lives wherever their paths may lead. We are deeply committed to the whole person that each student is becoming.

Learning and growing in a safe environment
Our teachers and administrators create a Christ-centered environment in our schools. We begin with the belief that all children are created by God, for God, and loved by God, with dignity and a distinct purpose. Members of the Catholic school community treat one another with care and respect because we are created in the image and likeness of God. These beliefs are self-evident in the relationships that teachers maintain with their students, with parents, and with each other.

A genuine partnership with parents
We collaborate with parents to develop appropriate goals and assess progress understanding the unique gifts and abilities of each student. When extra support is needed, a team of teachers, administrators, counselors and other resource staff go into action as a student assistance team to address the issue and work toward real solutions.

Tuition assistance, scholarships and financial aid
The Archdiocese of Washington works very hard to make sure that a Catholic education is affordable. We know that the choice to enroll your child in a Catholic school can mean financial sacrifice. Through tuition assistance, scholarships and other programs, we help ensure that as many families as possible realize the dream of a Catholic education regardless of economic circumstances.

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington are as diverse as the people we serve. Our students, teachers and administrators come from many cultures, economic backgrounds and family histories. Yet we are one community, firmly rooted in faith and the values Christ teaches us. Whether you are a practicing Catholic or not, you are welcome here.

Finding a School
The Archdiocese of Washington has 97 Catholic schools that welcome approximately 30,000 students into classrooms throughout the District of Columbia and Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.

The archdiocese directly administers 64 of these schools. The remaining 33 schools are independent. All Catholic schools share one Catholic identity, but the independent schools are governed separately and have varying tuitions and fees.
