Regina Coeli
The Regina Coeli prayer celebrates the Resurrection of our Lord and gives tribute to our Blessed Mother. Dating back to 1742, the church prays the Regina Coeli from Night Prayer following the Easter Vigil to Pentecost Sunday, either at Noon or following dinner (as a prayer of thanksgiving). With Mary we rejoice in the great gift of Our Lord’s resurrection.
Regina coeli laetare,
Alleluia,
Quia quem meruisti portare.
Alleluia,
Resurrexit,
Sicut dixit,
Alleluia.
Ora pro nobis Deum.
Alleluia.
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia.
For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia.
Has risen, as He said, alleluia.
Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia.
R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
Asking for Mary's intercession...
