Student Services
All Catholic schools in our archdiocese work closely with parents to keep students safe and thriving. Our teachers and administrators create an environment where respect, grace and service are not just ideals, but realities in the classroom.
Creating a Safe and Healthy Environment
The Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Policy is one of the most important documents in our diocese. Under these policies, every student learns what a safe environment means. The policy sets clear boundaries of conduct for all teachers, staff members and volunteers who come into contact with young people in our schools and parishes.

Addressing Each Student’s Educational Needs
When students need additional resources and customized strategies to make their educational experience successful, we activate a Student Assistance Team for them. Teachers, administrators, counselors, special education teachers and others come together for practical problem solving. They share perspectives and focus on solutions. These teams address immediate needs and set a baseline for long-term strategies.
Accommodating Special Needs
Catholic schools welcome students with special needs. Each school makes the determination for admittance based on the resources the school has in place. The capability to address different physical and cognitive disabilities varies from school to school. We encourage you to contact individual schools to start your search, learn what each can offer and request appropriate referrals.
Dealing Effectively with Difficult Social Issues
Our Catholic schools give students the tools they need to deal with difficult issues like bullying, drug and alcohol use, stress and anxiety, gossiping, safe use of the Internet and more.
Connect with Kids provides online assistance for students, parents and teachers. Video-based programs cover tough-to-talk-about issues with real stories, concrete help and practical tips. You can log into this valuable resource here:

Extending Help to Families in Need
Bridge to Success provides schools supplies and other support when families face short-term, immediate needs or long-term challenges. The archdiocese partners with this program, operated by Neediest Kids, to ensure that all students in our schools have the classroom supplies, clothing, groceries, personal care items and other basic necessities to attend school.
